What a season! Eli Tomac cinched the 450SX championship despite not racing at all in Atlanta (hope that knee heals soon!). In the 250SX series, Jett Lawrence wrapped up the East title and Christian Craig secured both the West title and the overall 250SX championship.
It could be fitting that Eli Tomac returns to his home state to clinch the 450SX series title. He battled Chase Sexton for the hole shot but gave way to Sexton as he sat in a comfortable second to start. Suffering from a knee injury, Tomac was battling some adversity in these final rides. Applying constant pressure on the tail of Sexton, a mistake occured that landed Sexton on the ground and Tomac took the opportunity to advance to the race lead. Jason Anderson then got close to Tomac, put the pressure on and overtook Tomac for the lead. Malcolm Stewart passed Tomac in the race, but ultimately, Tomac only needed to finish in the top 14 to secure the 2022 championship. Anderson went on to achieve his sixth win of the season (a career 13th win), followed by Stewart and Marvin Musquin to round out the podium finishes. Tomac took a comfortable fifth place to claim his second career 450SX Championship.
The battle for the 250SX series championship remained tight between Christian Craig and Hunter Lawrence. Lawrence claimed the hole shot with Craig right behind him. For a portion of the race, Craig applied constant pressure behind Lawrence, staying patient but clearly within striking distance. As Craig was steadily working to set-up a pass, he made an error that landed him on the ground. This mistake meant that Craig will have to wait until the final race of the season to try for the championship as Hunter was now clearly in front. Lawrence completed a clean ride to claim the race victory. Craig made a valiant run for the podium and claimed third place behind Michael Mosiman, who took second.

Round 15: Foxborough, MA // April 23rd
The return of Supercross to Gillette Stadium was exciting as its last visit was back in 2018. For series points leader Eli Tomac, this race presented an opportunity to clinch the 2022 season title. Tomac’s biggest competition was Jason Anderson who was a distant, but reachable second in the series points standings. The hole shot was secured by Cooper Webb, but he was followed by both Tomac and Anderson. As Tomac took advantage of a small error by Anderson, he ends up stalling his bike with several riders passing him – including Anderson. Later in the race, Anderson overtakes Webb for the lead and the win, denying Tomac a series points clincher. Tomac still has the points lead but he will have to wait until Denver to try to secure the title.
This race was big for series points leader Jett Lawrence who could see himself securing the season title at this race. The race began with Cullin Park and Pierce Brown at the front of the pack. Eventually, Brown would overtake Park. Later in the race, Lawrence and Austin Forkner had quite the battle. Brown was on the verge of a first potential career win, but it was not to be as Forkner overtook him for the win – just two races back from his injury recovery. Lawrence got as close as second place, but he didn’t need to win the race to secure the season championship. His finish clinches the 250SX East title – only the second Australian along with Chad Reed to do so.

Round 14: Atlanta, GA // April 16th
The Atlanta Motor Speedway served as the second NASCAR track of the year where the Supercross riders would navigate. Justin Barcia took the hole shot lead as Chase Sexton stayed close to challenge for it from the gates. A tight pack, not far behind the two race leaders were series points leader Eli Tomac followed by Jason Anderson. Sexton remained patient behind Barcia and made a smooth pass mid-race that Barcia didn’t have an answer for. Sexton continued to extend his lead, but Anderson was closing the gap and applying pressure. Sexton is seen making an error and goes down, which handed Anderson the lead. Without traffic in front or behind him, Anderson rode to his fourth win of the season, followed by Tomac and Sexton. Eli now heads to the next race in Foxborough to try to close out the series championship.
For the 250SX class, Atlanta was the backdrop to an East/West Showdown where riders from both coast’s series battled. Jo Shimoda aggressively rode out of the gates to take the hole shot followed by RJ Hampshire, Christian Craig, Jett, and brother Hunter Lawrence. Some distractions happened during the race that saw Hampshire lay the bike down with advancing pressure from Lawrence, but Lawrence would also find himself on the ground and a drop to 15th as the race progressed. Hunter Lawrence would eventually take the lead from Shimoda as Jett would methodically make his way back to the front of the pack, eventually battling Shimoda. Hunter rode to victory followed by Christian Craig and Jett.

Round 13: St. Louis, MO // April 9th
St. Louis presented another Triple Crown Race format so three important races would determine the night’s overall winner. Chase Sexton came roaring out of the gates in Race 1 to take the hole shot. A few notable riders found themselves in contact with the ground including Dean Wilson, Jason Anderson, and Alex Martin. From start to finish, however, Sexton rode a smooth race to the win. In Race 2, Marvin Musquin claimed the hole shot and never looked back – he took the checkered flag for the victory. Notably, top rider Malcolm Stewart took a hard fall in Race 2 which saw him limping. In Race 3, series points leader Eli Tomac took the hole shot. Anderson was seen having issues again as he lay down the bike. The battle throughout the race was between the remaining podium positions as Tomac rode another consistent race to take the last win. The overall winner of the night was Musquin who posted 2, 1, 2 race finishes. Sexton followed as the night’s overall second place finisher with 1, 3, 3 race finishes.
RJ Hampshire took the hole shot and was riding comfortably in the lead in Race 1 until he got entangled with a tuff block after a triple which sent him tumbling. Luckily, he only lost one position on the incident. Jett Lawrence then got into first place and rode to the win. In Race 2, RJ Hampshire was in redemption mode as he took another hole shot out of the gates ahead of Lawrence who was battling for lead position. As every triple crown race result contributes to the overall win, Lawrence battled from behind to take the lead and the race win with Hampshire one position behind. In Race 3, it was a 100% hole shot night for Hampshire as he gained the lead from the gates again. While Lawrence was fierce, he laid the bike down midway through the race. Pierce Brown, who endured issues in the first two races, overtook Hampshire in the race only to succumb to another fall that allowed Hampshire to regain the lead. As Lawrence was seen battling back from the back of the pack, he achieved a podium position while Hampshire finally got a win. On the whole, consistency won the overall standings for the night. Hampshire’s 2, 2, and 1 race positions bested Lawrence’s 1, 1, and 5 place finishes. Mitchell Oldenburg took third overall over the course of the three Triple Crown Races.

Round 12: Seattle, WA // March 26th
In the 450SX Main Event, Eli Tomac raced to the front at the gate drop by taking the hole shot. As Tomac had a clear lane in front of him, Justin Barcia was seen trying to close the gap to challenge Tomac, however, an unforced error with the tuff blocks threw Barcia to the ground and interrupted his momentum. With Barcia’s error, Jason Anderson passes him to ride in second position. True to how his season has run, Tomac never relinquished. He achieved his fifth race win in a row and got his 44th career race win. He was followed by Anderson, and Marvin Musquin took third. With this win, Tomac further extends his lead in the points championship.
After a few weeks rest, the 250SX West returned to action in Seattle as the East riders now had a short rest between races. While Christian Craig led the race in the beginning, he was challenged by Michael Mosiman who ultimately prevailed on a turn that Craig tried to block. Unfortunately, the two bikes made contact with Craig going down as Mosiman gained the lead. While in good position, Mosiman would be challenged by Hunter Lawrence who ultimately captured the lead. Meanwhile, as Craig went down earlier in the race, he showed his championship quality racing when he worked his way through the field to find himself behind the leader, Lawrence. While Craig was not able to overtake Lawrence, having rode as close as a second behind Lawrence, he did prevail after the early incident to earn a second-place podium finish behind the winner Lawrence (his third career win). Third place went to Mosiman who was challenged by Jo Shimoda just before the finish line.

Round 11: Indianapolis, IN // March 19th
In the 450SX Main Event, Justin Barcia took the hole shot while Jason Anderson was on his tail. Anderson made a clean pass on Barcia to assume the lead. Anderson was riding strong after a crash last week that left him exiting the race before the finish. Mid-way through the race, Barcia and Anderson collided during Barcia’s pass on the inside which left Anderson on the dirt. In the meantime, Tomac had plans aimed at taking the lead in the race. As Barcia held the lead, inevitably, Tomac caught up to pass him for the lead. Another notable rider, Malcolm Stewart, who has been having a good season, crashed on his own in the rhythm section and was seen feeling pains as he was slow to get up but eventually took 8th in the race. Tomac went on to achieve his fourth Main Event win in a row, followed by Barcia and Marvin Musquin. Anderson ultimately fell to 6th place after the incident with Barcia.
The 250SX East race saw Jett Lawrence fly off his bike to start the heat race which meant he would have to use his championship level skills to get himself back into the front group to advance. Luckily, Lawrence picked himself right back up and went straight to work. After an impressive heat race, Lawrence went from last near the start to win the heat. In the Main Event race, Lawrence rushed out to get the hole shot but his lead was relinquished to Cameron McAdoo who was right there with him. At 18 years old, Lawrence kept his composure after McAdoo’s pass, electing to stay behind in second place and riding with patience throughout the race. Finally, Lawrence made a clean pass to take the lead as McAdoo was unable to regain it. Lawrence took another race win and has an 11-point lead in the championship series over second place McAdoo. Rounding out the podium in third place was RJ Hampshire.

Round 10: Detroit, MI // March 12th
The 450SX Main Event saw several collisions amongst riders. Justin Barcia took the early lead trailed by Jason Anderson, but only five minutes into the race, Anderson overtook Barcia. Cooper Webb, Eli Tomac, and Malcolm Stewart rounded out the lead pack. With clean aggression, Tomac overtook Webb with 14 minutes left in the race and set his sights on Barcia. In just one minute, Tomac moved into second place behind Anderson. Making quick work of the lead gap, Tomac was just behind the back wheel of Anderson, applying pressure at every turn, jump and straightaway of the track. With seven minutes left in the race, Webb and Sexton got tangled as both riders went down violently. Sexton was unable to finish the race and Webb attempted to ride with one hand for a few laps to gain points. In another part of the track, race leader Jason Anderson went down hard and was unable to finish the race. With one minute left in the race, Marvin Musquin went down and his visor was seen dangling from his helmet. As several riders went down, Tomac rode to another win with Stewart and Barcia following in podium positions. Tomac extended his lead in the championship points and secured his third race win in a row.
In the 250SX East Main Event, championship points leader Jett Lawrence took the early lead. In the Daytona race, we saw Lawrence ride with consistency from start to finish. Halfway through the race, Lawrence was only 1.5-seconds ahead of Pierce Brown which urged Lawrence to put some more intensity in his ride. This move paid off as he extended his lead on Brown to almost three seconds. Cameron McAdoo raced well with a solid third position and eventually overtook Brown for second. With three minutes left in the race, Lawrence had a comfortable 6.5-second lead on McAdoo. A clean race through and through with all the riders, Lawrence, again, showed his ability to ride smart and clean, avoiding unforced errors to take yet another win. He was followed by McAdoo and Brown to round out the podium finishes.

Round 9: Daytona Beach, FL // March 5th
The 450SX Main Event saw Cooper Webb take the hole shot while Jason Anderson and Malcolm Stewart weren’t far behind. However, Stewart got tangled with Anderson and both went down and faced a long ride ahead to get back to the front. In the lead group, Webb was followed by Chase Sexton, Eli Tomac, and Justin Barcia. As Webb started to extend his lead, Tomac battled to take over second from Sexton. With six minutes left in the race, Tomac continued to shave off Webb’s lead, getting it down to under a second. At this point of the race, Webb and Tomac were riding away from the rest of the pack with Sexton trailing Tomac by over five seconds. At just under a minute left in the race, Tomac made the successful move to pass Webb. Tomac took his sixth Daytona race win and added on points to the championship race. He is followed by Webb’s second place and Sexton’s third place finishes.
Racing in the infield of the Daytona Raceway is always a highly anticipated sight. In the 250SX East Main Event, Jett Lawrence and Stilez Robertson took the early lead. Enzo Lopes and Phil Nicoletti had a good battle for third position as the race unfolded. Cameron McAdoo, who found success this season, rallied from behind mid-race in position six. Another notable, RJ Hampshire, also found himself near the top half but a pass on McAdoo didn’t last long as McAdoo regained his position shortly after. Nicoletti was not able to hold off the riders behind him and fell to eighth mid-race. With just under a minute left, Lawrence continued to have a clean ride as the others battled for podium positions. Robertson retained second throughout the race, but McAdoo made great strides as he elevated to third. Lawrence took the checkered flag with over a 12 second lead on second place finisher Robertson, and McAdoo took third. Lawrence extended his lead on the points championship.

Round 18: Arlington, TX // Feb 26th
The Texas race presented another Triple Crown format in the 2022 season. In the 450SX Race 1, Marvin Musquin takes the hold shot away from Vince Friese. Jason Anderson also finds himself in the lead pack at the start. A few laps in and Malcolm Stewart finds himself in the lead, but it won’t be long when Anderson and him collide as both fall down and see several riders pass them. Justin Barcia surges to the front, but a race is never over when Cooper Webb is behind you. Webb rides with intensity and passes Barcia on the final lap to take the win. Race 2 has Chase Sexton with the hole shot, followed by Anderson. Midway through, Anderson takes the lead from Sexton, but Eli Tomac strongly rides in third with Webb in fourth. Without the hurdle of collisions and incidents, Race 2 was relatively clean. Tomac tries to chase down Anderson in the final lap but doesn’t succeed. Anderson wins Race 2 and Tomac follows behind. Race 3 started with Tomac and McElrath battling for the early lead, but Tomac prevails. The lead pack as the race progresses are familiar, once again, with Anderson assuming the lead from Tomac and Stewart in a solid third. Webb and Sexton are also in the mix riding fourth and fifth. Anderson does a great job fending off Tomac in the final laps and he takes the finish in first. After the results of the three Triple Crown Races, Tomac takes top podium position with a consistent performance all night. Anderson takes second and Webb takes third.
In the 250SX East Race 1, Jett Lawrence takes the early lead but didn’t hold on too long before his aggressiveness lays him on the ground. Austin Forkner and Cameron McAdoo find themselves in the lead and riding away to first and second place finishes. Meanwhile, Lawrence makes a milestone comeback from 18th to fourth and almost squeezes his way into third, but RJ Hampshire fends him off on the final lap. In Race #2, Lawrence finds himself in second right out of the gate and exhibits a bit more patience and eventually takes over the lead. Teammates McAdoo and Forkner comfortably ride in third and fourth while trying to close the gap on second place rider Jeremy Martin. It was not to be as the finish is Lawrence, Martin, McAdoo. Race 3 saw Lawrence take another laydown right after the start and he found himself in last place with a lot of ground to make up. McAdoo has a good start and finds himself a solid win if he doesn’t make a mistake. Lawrence, not surprisingly, mounts another good comeback and finds himself in fourth place with three minutes left, but as the wild ride continues, he collides with Forkner in mid-air which pummels both riders to the ground. McAdoo goes unscathed as he had a clear lead lane for much of the race. He finishes first in the last race of the night. Overall, a solid night for McAdoo. After the results of the three Triple Crown Races, he takes first on the podium, followed by Martin and Lawrence.

Round 7: Minneapolis, MN // Feb 19th
In the 450SX main event, familiar riders led off as the gates dropped. At the front with the hole shot was Cooper Webb, followed by Jason Anderson, Chase Sexton, and Malcolm Stewart. As the race progresses, movement is seen within the top four riders as Sexton passes Anderson. With 14 minutes left in the race, Sexton makes a pass on Webb to secure the lead position. As Sexton attempts to recoup his lead position, both Anderson and Stewart eventually pass him by. With less than three minutes left in the race, as Stewart appeared to be riding to a podium finish, he finds himself on the ground after washing out after a triple jump. As riders pass him, he luckily only loses two positions and continues with the race in fifth. With only two laps to go, Sexton goes down on his own, being thrown sideways off his bike and takes a hard landing. He does not end up finishing the race. Meanwhile, Anderson who was not far behind Sexton took over the lead. With just over a two second lead on Webb, Anderson rode clean to take his third win of the season. Webb takes second and Marvin Musquin makes his first podium of the season.
The 250SX East racers made their long-awaited debut as they embark on their first five races of the season. They will race all the way through Round 11 before taking a one week break as the 250SX West racers compete in Seattle. Some key names who were ones to watch in this season debut include Austin Forkner and Jett Lawrence (the 18-year-old brother to 250SX West title contender Hunter Lawrence) who both raced out to take one and two after the main event gate dropped. Part way through the race, Lawrence makes a solid pass against Forkner right before the rhythm section. As the race progressed, Lawrence extended his lead on Forker to eventually take the win without incident. Forkner finishes a solid second to his championship chase and teammate Cameron McAdoo takes third. As the nine-race season progresses, the competition expects to be fierce between Lawrence and Forkner for the 250SX East title. Currently, the season opener win gives Lawrence a two-point advantage for his rival.

Round 6: Anaheim, CA // Feb 12th
In the 450 SX race, Jason Anderson flew out from the gates and took the early lead in the race as series points leader, Eli Tomac, tried to overtake him on a few corners. A neck and neck battle in the beginning between the two of them, Anderson’s quick reactions to Tomac’s ride-from-behind pressure kept him in the steady lead. Once Tomac had some trouble mid-race in the whoops section, Anderson capitalized and increased his lead for the win. With the race win, Anderson is riding his momentum that started in the Glendale race to “chase down” Chase Sexton in the overall points standings. Now, Anderson asserts himself into the second-place position, just 12 points behind Tomac. If there was the perfect race weekend from start to finish, it belonged to Anderson, who was first in qualifying, first in his heat race, and first in the event final. On the podium alongside Anderson were Tomac in second place and Justin Barcia in third.
In this last 250SX West race before a 5-week break, Christian Craig continues to exert his dominance with another race win and a sweep of all three Anaheim stops. However, the race was not without casualties as several riders endured challenges in the whoops section including Hunter Lawrence who was not able to finish the race after crashing. Vince Friese achieved a second-place finish and Michael Mosiman was able to ride his way back to the podium to finish third after going off track during the race. Starting at the next race stop, Minneapolis, is the beginning of the 250SX East series where a different points race starts. Two times this season the West and East 250SX riders will be at the same venue, but mostly, they will be seen separate as they race to a championship in their respective series.

Round 5: Glendale, AZ // Feb 5th
The Glendale race showcased the Triple Crown format where three shorter Main Event races were contested by the racers. Throughout this year’s race schedule, this format will be seen two more times, at the Arlington Supercross (Rd 8) and St. Louis Supercross (Rd 13). Traditionally a Supercross race format has the qualifying racers run through a heat race, LCQ, and then the Main Event. The Triple Crown Format takes the first 18 qualifiers to the Main Event and runs a Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) race where the four fastest remaining riders will complete the Main Event roster. The 22 riders will then race three Main Events. Their finishing positions across all three races are given points which will be totaled to determine the overall event place finishes.
In the 450SX class, Eli Tomac jumped to the lead in race #1, followed by Jason Anderson, and Ken Roczen. Tomac never looked back to win the first race, followed by Anderson, and notably, Malcolm Stewart passed Ken Roczen before the end of the race to take third. In race #2, Tomac had the quick reaction time as he took yet another holeshot. As Anderson was having a good race in second position, he got tangled up with a tuff block and saw Stewart, Chase Sexton and a multiple of riders pass him. Tomac went unscathed and won the second race of the night. In race #3, Sexton denied Tomac a third holeshot as Stewart also got out early in front of Tomac. With two race wins under his belt for the night, Tomac finished third in race #3 but prevailed as the overall race winner.
The 250SX class was a battle with Vince Friese taking an early lead but was passed by Christian Craig and Hunter Lawrence not too far into race #1. Racing was aggressive as the races were shorted to just ten minutes each. In race #2, Friese took another holeshot for the early lead, but when he went wide, he also took out Christian Craig who was riding right alongside him. Craig went flying off the track and had to recover quickly if he looked to podium. Later in the race, a move of vengeance was seen as Craig’s bike contacted Friese’s. Neither racer went down, and Craig continued to work his way up in position. Lawrence won race #2 and Craig elevated to fourth place. In race #3, Lawrence did not get the best start, but he did get in the early lead pack. Craig took the holeshot and rode his way to victory in race #3, but Hunter Lawrence’s second place finished propelled him to the top of the podium for the overall race win. Craig settled for second and Jo Shimoda finally made a podium finish this season.

Round 4: Anaheim, CA // Jan 29th
The 450SX Main Event saw familiar names race at the front of the pack. Ken Roczen, Jason Anderson, Malcolm Stewart, Eli Tomac, and Chase Sexton all battled for the win. Throughout the race, positions shuffled around as Stewart started in second place but was passed by Anderson and Tomac. Stewart continued to hold steady racing in the top five. While Roczen was riding strong from the front, he collided with Anderson and got the worst of it going down in the race. Anderson stayed up and was able to ride on to take the lead. Midway through the Main, Tomac made a pass on Anderson when Anderson errored on a triple-triple. Tomac went on to take the win and after seven races without a win, the points leader finally takes one down followed by Anderson and Sexton. Tomac hangs on to the overall points lead by a margin of six points.
The 250SX class had a great battle throughout the race from this season’s two-time winner, Christian Craig, and San Diego’s winner, Michael Mosiman. While Vince Friese took the hole shot to lead the race, Mosiman did not wait too long to make the pass for the lead. While Friese raced in the top five throughout the Main Event, with two laps left, Friese suffered a crash that took him out of the race. Many know Friese as a 450SX rider who made the transition back to the 250SX class. With this transition are many adjustments. In the end, Craig took his third win of the season and extends his lead in the overall points standings. Craig’s story has attracted attention as well having once been retired and returned to the sport’s elite level at the age of 30. Mosiman finished second and Hunter Lawrence in third.

Round 3: San Diego, CA // Jan 22nd
The 450SX race resulted in a third different winner of the season thus far. Chase Sexton grabbed the lead on Lap 4 and kept it until the finish. For Sexton, it was his first 450SX win. Eli Tomac raced to a second-place finish which helped him secure the top spot in the overall season standings. Last year’s AMA Motocross Champion Dylan Ferrandis rounded out the podium finishes. Another rider that is a notable contender is Malcolm Stewart. Thus far, he has raced to three consecutive fifth place finishes. Touted as a “one to watch” this season, Stewart can make bold moves in the next couple of races to find his way into championship contention. Currently, the top three season points leaders are only separated by one point. The season has started off with tight competition.
The 250SX class saw a first-time race winner with Michael Mosiman. With a holeshot to start the race, Mosiman never looked back as he held a slim, but steady lead on Hunter Lawrence. Lawrence himself is off to a great start in the 2022 season having seen podium finishes in all three races. Christian Craig who won the season’s first two races went down shortly after the first turn and started the race with a lot of work to do to catch up. Riding with intensity, Craig made his way back to the podium in third.

Round 2: Oakland, CA // Jan 15th
The 450SX Main Event holeshot went to Adam Cianciarulo who has started the season already plagued with injuries. Hoping for a clean ride and his body to hold up, taking an early lead was a must for Cianciarulo. Anaheim 1 winner Jason Anderson also had a great start as he quickly made a clean pass on Cianciarulo to take the lead. Last year’s 450SX champion, Cooper Webb, stayed within the top 10 throughout the race, but couldn’t challenge for the podium spots. Anderson never relinquished the lead and took a race win, followed by Aaron Plessinger in second, and Justin Barcia in third. Cianciarulo ultimately slipped to the 12th place after a promising holeshot start.
The 250SX Main Event saw Joe Shimoda take the holeshot to start, but a stall on his bike allowed last week’s winner Christian Craig to ride past him to the early lead in the race which he never relinquished. Craig starts the season with great momentum as he takes back-to-back race wins. In contrast, last week Shimoda did not have a good start and had to work his way through the race from the back of the pack to a 7th place finish. A championship contender, Shimoda continued to ride through adversity as he also took a full front flip with his bike which placed him even further back from the leader. Ultimately, Shimoda took another 7th place finish. Hunter Lawrence, a part of the Lawrence brothers duo, continued a great season start as he comfortably made clean passes and rode behind Craig to take second place. He bests his Anaheim 1 finish by one placement and switches podium spots with Seth Hammaker who finished 2nd in Anaheim 1, and places 3rd in Oakland.

Round 1: Anaheim, CA // Jan 8th
In the offseason, four top riders in the 450 class changed teams which would set the stage for some exciting action in seeing how each rider would adjust to their new teams and new bike set-ups. Notably, Eli Tomac moved to the Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha team, Jason Anderson joined the Monster Energy Kawasaki team, Malcolm Stewart moved to the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team, and Aaron Plessinger joined the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team.
At Anaheim 1, Ken Roczen took first place with Cooper Webb and Justin Barcia filling out the podium spots. Roczen looked strong in the main event and even led by 13 seconds at one point of the race. Last year’s champion Cooper Webb certainly looks to back up his results from last year and exhibited a strong second place finish. Adam Cianciarulo raced with a sore shoulder which inevitably began to wear him down as he slipped in position after the midpoint of the race. The race also saw Malcolm Stewart and Marvin Musquin collide which ultimately took both out of podium contention. Luckily, there’s many more races left in the season, but championship contenders can’t let the early leaders gain too much momentum.
The 250 West class also made their season debut and Christian Craig took top podium position followed by Seth Hammaker and Hunter Lawrence. In this West race was last year’s 250 East champion Colt Nichols who suffered a crash in the heat that would prevent him from starting in the Main. Hunter Lawrence made a strong season debut as his brother, Jett Lawrence, will be racing the East division. The two popular brothers from Australia share a tight bond as they grew up racing together and with older brother Hunter paving the way.
