2022 Top New Bike Models from Major Brands

02/08/2022

The new year always seems like we’re turning over a new leaf, and that extends to major motorcycle brands rolling out their new bike models. Whether you’re actively looking for a new ride or just like to stay abreast of industry happenings just know that there are many exciting things on the horizon in 2022.

While we’re not expecting the avalanche of electric bikes that we’ve been promised just yet, there’s still an awful lot to be excited about. New offerings from famous brands across the globe are hitting the streets, and we’ve got you covered from Aprilia to Yamaha.

Read on for a sneak peek on what to expect this year.

MV Agusta Lucky Explorer 9.5

This one has been kept under wraps for a bit, with MV slowly trickling out information about what to expect from its forays into the adventure-bike sector. Now that wait has finally ended.

MV has decided to zig where other manufacturers have zagged on this beautiful new bike, opting for an increase from 800cc to 931cc. This is a motorcycle that packs some serious punch, with both the bore and the stroke increasing (which necessitated upgrades at the crankshaft and the cylinder head). There’s also a decent amount of tech, with a 7-inch TFT screen offering standard Bluetooth capabilities.

For those who might be looking for something slightly scaled back, MV is also rolling out an entry-level version of this bike with the 550cc Lucky Explorer 5.5.

The Streetfighter V2 now boasts the 955cc Superquadro, which peaks at 153 horsepower and almost 11,000 RPM, a nice upgrade from the Streetfighter 848 that many folks are probably still missing. It also has an optional exhaust system from Akrapovič which can save you around 15 pounds and boosts the output by roughly four more horsepower. Another option that the discerning biker can opt for is the wings that can give you the downforce to top at 165 mph.

However, one thing to note: it’s not exactly a trailblazer in the color options department. The world-famous Ducati Red is going to be your only choice if you go in this direction with your next ride.

Triumph Tiger Sport 660

The first thing you’ll likely notice about this motorcycle is that it appears to have some off-road design influences but make no mistake – this is a street bike (just check the 17-inch street tires if you don’t believe us). While it packs moderate power (80 horsepower) the touring bike fingerprints are apparent all over it, from the optional 52-liter top box to the famous side cases that you can also opt for. It also has some of the highest-performing tires of any of the bikes that we’ve seen so far this year, with Michelin Road 5s allowing you to hug the road in dry conditions and in wet.

Yamaha YZF-R6 GYTR

Something that could make for a nice track-only addition to your garage, the YZF-R6 GTYR is sure to appeal to racers around the world. Boasting upgraded brakes from earlier models and a quickshifter that allows you to move up through gears at a rapid pace this is a bike that could finally get you on the road to your racing dreams. It even comes with an R-Series Racing Rear Stand, which makes both maintenance and tinkering a breeze.

The stable of 2022 motorcycles doesn’t begin and end with the ones listed here, but they do represent some of the most exciting machines hitting the road this year. There are tons of street, touring, and racing bikes just begging to be explored, so if you’re in the market for a new ride then be sure to take your time and do your research so that you don’t miss out on anything that this industry has to offer.
