With the lift table upside down, lift the legs and engage the locking bar at the max height. Then begin by removing the foot pedal hose from the cylinder. Next, Next, use a wrench and loosen the nuts to remove the cylinder from the pivoting base plate. The nuts closest to the table can be difficult to reach, so we suggest using a combination hand wrench for this step. Once the cylinder is free from the base plate, slide it out towards the front of the lift and place it on a table. Next, use a wrench to remove the bolt that secures the piston face plate to the piston rod, pull the face plate out of the cylinder, and set it aside. Then from the opposite end, remove the piston rod from the cylinder. With the piston rod removed, use a channel lock to loosen and remove the end cap. Then remove the nylon bushing from the gland and set it aside. With the bushing removed, remove the rubber gasket on the gland. This will be the first seal to be replaced. Replace the small gasket, making sure that the groove side is pointing towards the interior of the cylinder. Be sure that the new gasket fits into the chamfer and that it is fully seated. Now reinsert the plastic bushing into the gland and replace the end cap. Next, wipe away any abrasive debris from the piston rod and slide it back into place. Remove the rubber washer that sits in the bevel of the piston faceplate. If this ring is missing, check the inside of the cylinder. To replace the seal on the piston face, use a flathead screwdriver to pry it out of the channel. Apply a bit of grease to the new seal and seat it into the outer channel, making sure the grooved side of the seal faces the inside of the cylinder. Now place the new rubber washer into the center of the piston face. As you go to reinstall the piston face, keep a grip on the ring so it doesn't fall off. Slide the piston face into the cylinder at an angle until you meet the piston rod. Align the holes and replace the bolt. Once the bolt is partially threaded, you can tap the piston face with the end of a hammer to ensure it is flush with the piston rod. With all of the components aligned, tighten the bolt completely. Now that all of the seals have been replaced, it's time to reassemble the table. Simply slide the cylinder assembly back into position under the table and reattach it to the pivoting base plate. This is most easily done with the piston rod deployed about halfway. The roller wheels will sit on the tracks and assist in keeping the cylinder bolts in line with the holes in the base plate. Once all of the bolts are tightened, the seal replacement is complete. Reattach the foot pedal hose, and you've completed the process.
